Southwest Florida includes Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Hendry and Glades Counties, with a population of approximately 1.3 million people and a workforce of over 600,000.

The Alliance is a marketing engine to attract businesses to the region. It is supported by a broad group of private and public investors, and designed to work collaboratively with local county and city economic development offices. The Alliance provides regional marketing and outreach to generate awareness and interest in the Southwest Florida region. It maintains a comprehensive website, serves as an economic development coordinator in the region, and builds community awareness of the importance of marketing the region. Activities include coordinating select trade shows, hosting site selector, CEO and other key constituent events, maintaining a regional economic development website and media relations. These activities are in addition and in support of the county and city economic development initiatives.
Southwest Florida is projected to be a fast growing area that offers a quality workforce, excellent quality of life, diversity, and strong connections to the world with an international airport, highways, and interstates. The region understands the importance of a working together including advocating statewide and has an excellent business climate. There are nine colleges and universities in Southwest Florida, and the region is committed to training and relocation assistance. Some of the firms that are expanding or relocating to the region are Hertz (global headquarters), Gartner (IT consulting), Arthrex (medical devices), and Chico’s, FAS (global headquarters). Yes. Southwest Florida offers a wide variety of incentives and grants based on job creation and capital investment such as industrial development bonds, enterprise zones, impact fees and tax credits.
